My Plan for Libya<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/strong><\/p>\nWater Conservation<\/strong><\/p>\nBecause of Libya\u2019s climate and desert ecosystem, water conservation is paramount to development. Water shortage is already a serious concern for a large number of Libyans. Rising consumption will further increase water scarcity as population growth, food production, industrialization, and improved living standards place more demands on Libya\u2019s water supply. We must enact stricter controls over water consumption to ensure that all Libyans have access to water resources.<\/p>\n
Reduce Carbon Emissions<\/strong><\/p>\nIncrease in industrial development and a significant increase in vehicle numbers have affected air quality, particularly in coastal cities. A comprehensive review of carbon emissions must be implemented to help improve air quality throughout Libya. Enacting a carbon tax to help curb carbon emissions with proceeds getting reinvested in infrastructure upgrades in polluting sectors could quickly reduce the effects of carbon emissions. In addition, the creation of mass transit at the municipal level with vans and buses running in dedicated lanes. Finally, mandate fuel efficiency standards for all new vehicles, helping to ensure better air quality for future generations.<\/p>\n
Investing in Renewable Energy Technologies<\/strong><\/p>\nPreserving Libya\u2019s environment depends on investing in renewable energy technologies. By improving the efficiency of pumping water from the Man Made River and desalination, we can harness the energy produced to reduce Libya\u2019s dependence on consuming fossil fuels. In addition, Libya\u2019s large desert is ideal for investment in solar technology.<\/p>\n

Rising consumption will further increase water scarcity as population growth, food production, industrialization, and improved living standards place more demands on Libya\u2019s water supply. We must enact stricter controls over water consumption to ensure that all Libyans have access to water resources.<\/p>\n
Reduce Carbon Emissions<\/strong><\/p>\nIncrease in industrial development and a significant increase in vehicle numbers have affected air quality, particularly in coastal cities. A comprehensive review of carbon emissions must be implemented to help improve air quality throughout Libya. Enacting a carbon tax to help curb carbon emissions with proceeds getting reinvested in infrastructure upgrades in polluting sectors could quickly reduce the effects of carbon emissions. In addition, the creation of mass transit at the municipal level with vans and buses running in dedicated lanes. Finally, mandate fuel efficiency standards for all new vehicles, helping to ensure better air quality for future generations.<\/p>\n
Investing in Renewable Energy Technologies<\/strong><\/p>\nPreserving Libya\u2019s environment depends on investing in renewable energy technologies. By improving the efficiency of pumping water from the Man Made River and desalination, we can harness the energy produced to reduce Libya\u2019s dependence on consuming fossil fuels. In addition, Libya\u2019s large desert is ideal for investment in solar technology.<\/p>\n
