ROME – Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said that his country “seeks to bring about unity in Libya by establishing contacts between the head of the national unity government in Tripoli, Fayez al-Sarraj, and Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar in Tobruk.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his intervention at the University of (Louis) in Rome on Thursday evening, within the framework of the series of meetings with ministers organized by the university, Minister Gentiloni added that “Italy has a role and interest in this issue,” because “most of the immigrants who arrive in our country arrive through Libya.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Islamic State terrorist group likely will launch an attack on Italy within weeks, not months, according to a senior Libyan government official.<\/p>\n

Aref Ali Nayed<\/strong>, Libya\u2019s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, said in an interview that one likely method of attack would be to use stolen Libyan airliners now believed to be in the hands of Islamists in Libya.<\/p>\n\n\n
