Nayed has wide-ranging political contacts in the Arab region and key decision-making capitals of the world, as well as an extensive network among Libyan political and tribal leaders. He has a clear track record of political activity and has participated in recent years in most consultations on the political and security situation in Libya through liaison with the United Nations and its envoys, as well as with important Arab and international heads of state, foreign ministers, ambassadors, diplomats and heads of leading international organisations.
Following the upheavals of 2011, Nayed has exerted intensive diplomatic efforts with several governments and international organizations. He was one of the pivotal political figures representing the political trends since 2011 and has maintained a tireless commitment to political activity. Nayed has supported all efforts to move the country towards stability and counter all attempts to drag the country towards extremism and violence.
Since the beginning of the Libyan political dialogue in 2015, Nayed has conducted numerous visits to Arab and international capitals, holding talks with senior officials; exchanging views on the Libyan crisis; and proposing ways to solve the crisis.
Nayed’s high profile as a political personality and his extensive international relations experience led to him being one of the key envoys representing the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) to the international community. This role was undertaken at a time when the HoR was under great political and media pressure which sought to marginalise its legitimate role as the elected legislative body in Libya. Nayed’s uncompromising stance against violent extremist organizations contributed to the country’s successful efforts to combat terrorism and to stop the efforts of such organisations from undermining Libyan sovereignty.
