My Plan for Libya

Developing a National Strategy

In order to move forward, Libya must establish a national infrastructure plan that would extend appropriate social and economic infrastructure throughout Libya. Such a plan would require the reevaluation of national projects that are currently on hold. A national infrastructure fund is also necessary in order to stimulate job creation, economic growth, and productivity.

Developing Municipal Strategies

Municipal development and investment plans for each of Libya’s municipalities will support growth and development. Such plans will integrate land use planning with infrastructure investment. The creation of a municipal bond market will enable municipalities to fund capital projects in their communities by attracting outside investment. A municipal bond market also provides residents with an opportunity to invest in their community.

Access to Information

We must work to develop a national information and communications technology strategy to build world class infrastructure that increases high-speed broadband access for households and businesses and promotes accessibility to key government services.

MY RECORD THUS FAR

• Aref Nayed is supporting community and youth development by strengthening civil society institutions such as community centers, sports clubs, and youth centers
• The need to restore Libya’s traditional religious institutions
• Aref Nayed supports an education system that meets the needs of the labor market and that provides a solid grounding in Libyan values, traditions, cultural heritage
• Aref Nayed expanded cultural exchanges between Libya and the United Arab Emirates by hosting a high-level delegation from the Libyan Ministry of Culture and exposing them to the latest trends in cultural preservation, museums management, and cultural tourism
• Aref Nayed supported the development of Libyan sports by facilitating the participation of Libyan sports teams in international competitive tournaments, encouraging the attendance of the Libyan community at sporting events which featured Libyan teams, and recognizing the achievements of Libyan athletes
