Smart

I see a smart Libya where our children receive the finest education; where our schools meet the highest international standards; where our teachers are highly trained to nurture our future generations. I see a Libya where our children learn not just to memorize but to think; where they are prepared with skills that will help them face and overcome the challenges of life today and tomorrow and participate in the transformation of their country.

I see a Libya where quality education is an overriding priority. We can do this if we invest in strengthening our weak educational systems. We need improved administration, world-class facilities, enhanced teachers’ training programs, and transformed curricula. We need to give students a well-rounded education with a greater emphasis on science and technology to prepare our youth to enter the workforce.

I see a Libya where our youth are sufficiently trained for and employed in high growth sectors such as IT, alternative energy, tourism, and professional services. We must equip our youth with the skills to work in the private sector and promote hiring of Libyans by private companies. We must encourage women to enter the labor force and explore more diverse employment fields. Reducing barriers to entrepreneurship will encourage Libyans to invest in establishing their own businesses.

I see a Libya that contributes to regional and international innovation and invests in emergent industries that can grow our economy. We must channel resources to scientific research, research and development, and improve the technical capabilities of the national workforce. We need to focus on building a national innovation system to diversify our economy and provide employment for youth in emerging knowledge-based industries.
