In this paper, presented at the New Mardin Conference in Turkey on 27-28 March 2010, organised by the Global Centre for Renewal and Guidance (GCRG) with Canopus Consulting and the Mardin Artuluk University, Aref Nayed argues that the way to improve societal relations and promote peace within and between communities is by developing the theological concepts of “neighbourliness” and “proximity”.
