Sisi Opens the Door to War: Sirte and Jufra are a Red Line

Cairo – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi opened the door to direct military intervention in Libya to stop the progress of the Turkish-backed Al-Wefaq government brigades by stressing that “Sirte and Al-Jufrah are a red line,” in direct response to Turkish statements hours before him that demanded the Libyan National Army forces Led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar to withdraw from Sirte and Jufrah.

Al-Sisi toured an airbase near Egypt’s nearly 1,200 km (1,200 km) western border with Libya, and state television showed footage of the Egyptian president watching fighters and helicopters take off from the base.

Al-Sisi told a number of pilots from the Air Force and Special Forces at the base, “Be prepared to carry out any mission here within our borders or if it is required outside our borders.”
