Concerning the declaration of (ceasefire)
Ihya Libya welcomes the two statements issued today, Friday, August 21, 2020, by the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives and the President of the Presidency Council of the Government of National Accord, who agreed to declare a (ceasefire) on all Libyan soil and to return to the Libyan-Libyan political dialogue.
These two statements, together with sincere intentions, hard work and real national, regional and international guarantees, can form the basis for a comprehensive Libyan-Libyan negotiation and agreement:
- He will save the sovereignty, unity and freedom of Libya.
- And expedite relief for the Libyan citizen who is deprived on a daily basis of his security, safety, health, livelihood and hope for a stable and prosperous life.
- And save the destinies of the Libyan people from waste, corruption, terrorist financing and distribution injustice.
- And expedite the evacuation of all foreign forces and mercenaries of all kinds from the entire Libyan soil, and the dismantling of all irregular armed groups.
- It leads to urgent presidential and parliamentary elections that renew legitimacy in Libya and give every Libyan his right to authorize whomever he wants through the ballot boxes, not through populist mobilization, military mobilization, or the extension and procrastination of the flimsy arguments of the Shari’a.
The (Revival of Libya Bloc) addressed the Secretary-General of the United Nations with an open letter, on 29 June 2020, that included basic elements in common with the two statements issued today, along with other points that we consider very important to ensure the credibility, success and stability of the ceasefire steps, and a return to political life.
We are in daily contact with all the national, regional and international actors regarding all these points.
