Nayed: My Only Opponent is Terrorism and its Supporters

The Chairman of the Libya Institute for Advanced Studies, Dr Aref Nayed said that he had renounced his Canadian citizenship in September 2015, pointing out that the draft constitution currently prepared does not harm him in anything, noting at the same time that the requirement to revoke the non-Libyan nationality has not been applied to anyone before. Especially members of the Muslim Brotherhood, indicating that he had revoked his Canadian citizenship for love of Libya.

Nayed added in an exclusive interview with Libya’s Channel, which was broadcast on the “More” program and monitored by the channel’s website on Tuesday night, that he announced his candidacy for the presidential elections since last March and that he had submitted many complaints to the Attorney General against those who tried to keep him out of the elections with malicious campaigns.

Nayed stressed that participation in and running for elections, including parliamentary and municipal elections, is a national duty, commenting at the same time that the results and the possibility of his or his competitors winning are a matter of fortunes and not in his hands.

In response to a question about his position in the event that his rival Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi won, and does he see him as his opponent or not? He made it clear that his only opponent is terrorism and its supporters.
