British Newspaper: The Nominations for the New Libyan Government Include Those Close to the Gaddafi Regime

The London-based Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper said, on Sunday, that the “Bursa” candidates to take over the post of Prime Minister of the National Accord government that will succeed the current government headed by Abdullah Al-Thinni, now includes about eight candidates, some of whom worked for periods during the regime of the late Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

The newspaper quoted members of the Libyan House of Representatives who met the international mediator in the Libyan crisis, the United Nations envoy Bernadino Leon in Cairo, that the list of candidates includes Abdel-Rahman Shalgam, Libya’s foreign minister in Gaddafi’s government and its former delegate to the United Nations, and Jadallah Azouz al-Talhi, the former president. To the Gaddafi government, in addition to Aref Nayed, Libya’s ambassador to the UAE, and Abdullah Al-Badri, Secretary-General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
