Italy is Ready to Fight in Libya with a UN Mandate

Rome – Libya’s distinguished partner, Italy, has expressed its concern about the growing influence of jihadists, confirming its readiness to “fight” terrorism within the framework of the United Nations, and urging Europe to make the Libyan crisis a priority.

“We told Europe and the international community that we have to wake up because something very dangerous is happening and it is unfair to leave the settlement of all problems to us under the pretext that we are the closest,” Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said.

“The matter requires a stronger mission from the United Nations and Italy, which is ready, within the framework of a United Nations mission, to play its role in defending the idea of freedom in the Mediterranean region,” he added.
