Attached is an article that has created great confusion and alarm last night and this morning. The position outlined in it is completely contrary to the expressed position of the US Government in your various statements and those of the State Department. That position outlined in the article violates UN Security Council Resolutions and the agreed Roadmap. It is very likely that the article is another Muslim Brotherhood-supporting lobbying piece.
The article is demoralizing, and there are already multiple calls for organizing to counter the position outlined in it.
It is very urgent that the US Government clearly and forcefully reiterates its established and published position: Presidential and Parliamentarian Elections on time: December 24th 2021, with no procrastination on Round II of the Presidential Elections.
The urgent clarification of your position is of vital importance. If the Libyan people come to the conclusion that they are being deprived of their right to choose their own President in December, civil strife, and even armed conflict, is a very likely outcome
