The Libyan House of Representatives issued a law to elect the president directly by the people and by secret ballot, noting in a letter addressed to the United Nations Support Mission in Libya that the House of Representatives is the only legislative body in Libya that came with free and fair elections.
The law on the election of the Libyan president came – the seventh day obtained a copy of it – in 77 articles specifying the conditions that must be met by the candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, after the failure of the Political Dialogue Forum to set the constitutional basis necessary for holding elections in Libya on December 24.
In turn, the Libyan political parties, blocs and organizations welcomed the issuance of the law to elect the head of state and define his competencies, saluting all the efforts made by the segments of Libyan society and its political organizations and to the international community to achieve the people’s demand to exercise their right to choose their president in a historical precedent since the time of independence.
