Presidential candidate and Chairman of the Ihya Libya Movement, Dr Aref Nayed, met today on Monday with the French President Emmanuel Macron’s Special Advisor and his Envoy to Libya, H.E. Paul Soler. They discussed the imperative to support the UN Envoy, H.E. Abdoulaye Bathily’s plan to hold direct Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in 2023, in respect to the right of 2.8 million Libyan women and men to choose the leaders of their own country, without pressure or procrastination.
They also welcomed the important and commendable progress of the military and security track through the recent meetings between Libyans, their vocal support for the elections and their commitments to protect them and respect their results, along with the importance of the exit of all foreign forces from Libya, in order to uphold the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
