Jumeriah College recently helped Libyan students and parents celebrate a new era for Libya. Dr. Aref Ali Nayed, the Libyan Ambassador to the UAE, Sunny Varkey, and other Libyan diplomats attended the special ceremony, where the new national anthem and national flag for Libya were recognized.
“Our country has been through a lot. It was a painful journey that saw great sacrifices of lives and wellbeing. But throughout the struggle, there was consistent faith and joy in the horizon,” said the ambassador, Dr Nayed.
The ambassador went on to say that it would be great educators like Varkey and GEMS Education that could help shape the future of Libya, by introducing and supporting a new educational framework in the country.
Waving the new flag and wearing shirts and head scarves emblazoned with the flag, students and parents who attended the function shared their joy and pride for their homeland that is taking a new leap to a promising future.
