A Statement About the Latest Developments in the Political Scene

21/01/2021

The controversy over the so-called (constitutional rule) necessary to hold the general elections, which the United Nations announced that the United Nations had announced an agreement to organize by December 24, 2021, is strongly arising again. And between the discussion of this issue in the Libyan Dialogue Forum, with its different paths, from Tunisia to Morocco to Egypt and Geneva, the desire of the parties that do not really care to find solutions to get out of the tragic and painful situation that Libya has ended up is emerging on the scene, because it is the only beneficiary of this situation is that there are obstacles to achieving the announced election. In this regard, these parties began to mobilize all their efforts, and to employ all their capabilities, to promote the idea of moving forward to approve the draft constitution presented by the founding body, through a popular referendum. They are well aware that taking this path cannot lead to the completion of the elections, neither on the specified date nor even after a year or more, because they know what will result from the referendum method in terms of wasting time and extending the available deadlines. Not to mention the sterile debate with which they raise their faith about the need for a constitutional base, on the basis of which elections are to be held.
