American Plan to Compete with the Paris Declaration and Rome Conference to Resolve the Crisis in Libya

Although there is much that France and Italy agree on regarding the Libyan file, the two countries are pursuing two parallel approaches that do not converge with regard to resolving the crisis, in the midst of an international impotence compounded by the great division in the Libyan political scene led by two conflicting governments, one centered in the East and the other in Tripoli, which has recently witnessed a security escalation, led to the United States announcing its intervention in the Libyan crisis, through a plan that does not inspire optimism, but rather observers see it as a new node added to the scene full of complications.

Aref Nayed drew attention to the significance of the recent popular demonstrations in the west, east and south, as well as field surveys and polls that warn Rome against trying to postpone the elections, given that the only announced plan of the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salamé is to hold elections next December, which is the closest to popular demands as reflected by many media.
