The Chairman of the Libya Institute for Advanced Studies (LIAS), Dr Aref Nayed said that all political administrations in Libya have had their legitimacy exhausted.

In an interview with the American Al-Hurra channel, Al-Nayed stressed the necessity of holding presidential, parliamentary and municipal elections, stressing the need to renew the true legitimacy of the people.

The Chairman of LIAS added that political forces are stalling on the pretext of the necessity of the referendum on the constitution or the amendment of the political agreement and the approval of a new transitional period, but there is the possibility of organizing elections based on the constitutional declaration or based on the decisions of the February Commission at its various levels.

Nayed pointed out that the American role in Libya was present, but incorrectly applied.

He added that the Obama administration was counting on the role of Islamists in stabilizing Libya, but there was no review by the US administration of its policies, especially after the assassination of the US Ambassador to Libya.

Nayed added that stability in Libya will only happen through restoring the Libyan social fabric at the level of cities, regions and tribes, praising its presentation in this way in the US Congress.

Nayed expressed his hope that this idea would instigate a change of US policies towards Libya.
