Nayed: The Problem is Not in the Skhirat Agreement, But Rather in the Failure to Implement the Provisions as a Single Package

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libya Academy for Advanced Studies, Aref Nayed, said that the problem is not in the Skhirat Agreement, but in the failure to implement the provisions in one package, adding in a statement yesterday to “Libya Channel” that there is great selectivity in the application of this agreement, and this selectivity has caused great unfairness to a segment A large group of Libyan society, pointing out that the security arrangements clause was not taken into account in this agreement, which allowed the armed groups to feed on the strength of the Libyan people.

Nayed said that many regions of Libya are now safe, indicating that if there are observers from the United Nations and the League of Arab States, and in the event of international and regional insistence that the elections be carried out under international and regional sponsorship, then these elections must be held, appealing to the Libyan people. Of the necessity to go to the polls, and added, “It is everyone’s right to exercise this right, and that no one is excluded except by a court ruling.”
