Paolo Gentiloni: We Will Work Diligently to Bring About a Government of Consensus in Libya

Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said that peace is possible in Libya and that recent months have witnessed progress in terms of content, reiterating his country’s government support for the efforts of the United Nations Special Envoy for Support in Libya Bernardino Leon.

Gentiloni added, in a speech he delivered on the sidelines of his participation in a symposium on migration and peace, in the Albanian capital that they must work determinedly to reach an agreement to form a government of national accord in Libya, he said.

This comes in light of leaks about the possibility of announcing the assignment of the former representative of Libya to the United Nations, Abd al-Rahman Shalgam, supported by Italy, to head the Government of National Accord. Daou Bawdawiya, Abdul Salam Abdul Jalil, Nabil Al-Ghadamesi, and Muhammad Obaid.
