The Political Parties Affairs Committee of the Ministry of Justice of the interim Government of National Unity (GNU) approved 8 organisations as political parties out of the 13 that had requested approval.
Press statements issued by Mohamed Bettamer, a member of the Parties Affairs Committee and Head of the Civil Status Authority, said his committee held its third meeting this year on Sunday to review the results of its work and study requests submitted to it by various parties, to register and grant them permission to engage in political work in the country.
Bettamer said that the parties that had obtained approval to engage in political work as political parties were Ihya Libya Movement, Together for Libya Bloc, Libyan National Party, Libya for All, Algourdabia Call, Libyan National Movement, Voice of the People, and Libya Technocrats Gathering.
He also said request by 5 parties was rejected for failing to meet key conditions. These parties were the Homeland Libya, Masses Party, My Country Party, Free National Gathering, and the Summit Party.
He called upon those wishing to establish political parties in Libya to observe the conditions stipulated by the law when submitting their files to the Ministry’s Political Parties Affairs Committee.
