The Libya Institute for Advanced Studies (LIAS) sent an urgent message bearing the seal and signature of its Chairman, Dr Aref Nayed to the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salamé, following the threat made by the commander of the presidential western military region, Usama Juwaili in a statement issued by it to target Bani Walid airport if the movement was not stopped.
Nayed affirmed in his message the categorical rejection of targeting Bani Walid Airport, stating that the airport is a civilian facility used for humanitarian purposes following the collective punishments imposed by the Government of National Accord on the people of the city, the city of Tarhouna and others.
