The head of the Libya Academy for Advanced Studies, Aref Nayed, sent a letter to the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, Ghassan Salame, requesting that a serious and urgent consideration be given to withdrawing the UN recognition of the Presidency Council and its government, before he implicated Libya and the Libyans in more invalid agreements and understandings with Turkey and others.
Nayed – according to a press release – many reasons for withdrawing recognition, the most important of which is that this Presidency Council is not elected, and it was not chosen by an elected body, as it does not embody the will of the people, which is the basis of legitimacy, indicating that the parliament twice failed to gain the confidence of the elected legislative body of its government, and its government did not swear an oath before Parliament.
