In a special statement to Libya TV, the presidential candidate, Aref Nayed, praised the efforts made by the High National Elections Commission in the voter registration process and praised the general popular momentum in support of holding presidential and parliamentary elections and moving forward on the path of a democratic, civil state.
Nayed welcomed Arab and international support for holding elections as the only solution to end the Libyan crisis, and the renewal of the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salamé, the commitment of the United Nations to hold presidential and parliamentary elections this year, expressing his hope that the candidacy announcements will follow from every Libyan who sees himself eligible for the presidency or for membership in Parliament according to The law denied that it objected to any Libyan candidacy for these elections, as some social media pages claim.
