For his part, the head of the Libya Academy for Advanced Studies, Dr. Aref Nayed, expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased, Muhammad Ishtiwi.
Nayed said in a post on his official Facebook page: We offer our condolences to the family of the deceased, his relatives, friends, loved ones, and colleagues in the Misurata Municipal Council, the people of the city of Misrata in general, and ourselves, on the death of the nation’s martyr, Brigadier General Muhammad Ishtaiwi, who was hit by treachery and betrayal upon his return to Misrata yesterday.
He praised the prominent role of the deceased in leading the national line and the moderate voice inside Misrata, and he struggled by word and deed against the terrorists and their supporters, ISIS and their base, until he paid his life as a price for his stances against them, and added: Our condolences to him and to all our martyrs in the war against terrorism, east, west, and south.
